It isn't just Bill Ayers, the ex-Weathermen terrorist and self-described small-c communist, who is happy about Barack Obama's presidential victory. No, the big-c variety are quite pleased as well. Writes the red ragPeople's Weekly World (PWW {"People's" in a name is always a bad sign}):
NEW YORK — Communist Party USA leaders meeting here Nov. 15-16
celebrated the election of Barack Obama, the nation’s first African
American president, and of stronger Democratic majorities in Congress,
saying it opened the way to progressive advances for America’s working
families.
Reporting on the PWW piece at AmericanThinker.com, Randall Hoven listed the communists' stated goals and then rendered commentary, writing:
Massive fiscal expansion.
Large injections of federal money into the economy.
Extend jobless benefits.
Help Americans hold onto their homes.
Extend food stamps.
The Employee Free Choice Act.
Taking the profits out of basic needs like health care and energy and explore public ownership.
By my count, they already have the first four - under President Bush.
But
fear not. Barack Obama is a "mainstream African-American who is
articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy" as Joe Biden said. Only right-wing crazies think there's anything socialist going on.
So I suppose we can be happy that Saxby Chambliss won the Georgia senate race yesterday, thereby denying the Democrats a filibuster-proof majority. Having said this, the Democrats will only need a few Republicans to cooperate with them on any given issue to get everything they want passed.
Really, though, as I'm wont to point out, our problem is spiritual and cultural -- in that order -- more than it is political. Leftist politics is a function of moral corruption; no socialist or communist state can develop if the people are virtuous. Of course, to keep things in perspective I'll mention that man has seldom been characterized by nobility and is usually just a major crisis and a bit of hardship away from embracing a tyranny that promises a loaf of bread. This is why big-c communism is again rearing its profoundly ugly head, as I documented in this piece. (By the by, if there's one good thing about Islamism, it's that it hates that infidel head as much as any other and would put it on the chopping block. And that's one head that deserves to be there.)
Another aspect of our moral decay that factors into this is poor education. Why is this a moral issue? Simply because when people are virtuous, they seek to learn and teach more, as both children and adults. They also will discipline their children at home and in school, thereby providing an environment in those two places and in the young's minds that is conducive to learning.
But this social state doesn't describe third-millennium America, and what is the result? Well, some of you may not grasp completely the level of ignorance today. What do you think is the percentage of young people who truly understand what the words "communism" and "socialism" really mean? With many of these individuals, you might as well be talking about Manicheism or the Albigensian heresy. It's all Greek to them.
As for Obama and the rest of the Democrats, who are quietly being applauded by the ever-present Red Menace, there is a saying that applies:
"Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are."
